Call Forwarding

Never miss a call, no matter where your team is working.

Call Forwarding routes your business calls to whatever number or device your team is using right now — mobile phone, home office, another team member, or a backup number. Configure rules once and let the system handle the rest.

How It Works

Follow your team anywhere

1

Admin configures forwarding rules for each extension, number, or team in the portal

2

Inbound call arrives and the system evaluates the active forwarding rule

3

Call is routed to the correct destination — mobile, desk, backup, or voicemail

Key Capabilities

Forwarding for every situation

Forward when busy or unanswered

When an agent or extension is busy or does not answer within a configured ring time, the call automatically forwards to the next destination in the chain. No call goes unanswered simply because the primary recipient is unavailable.

Always-forward mode

Configure any extension or number to send every call to a designated device or number, useful for mobile workers who need their business line to follow them regardless of context.

Time-based forwarding

Define different forwarding destinations by time of day, day of week, or date range. Use time-based rules to route after-hours calls to voicemail, a backup team, or an on-call number without any manual switching.

Simultaneous ring

Ring multiple devices at the same time when a call arrives so the first available device picks up. Simultaneous ring is ideal for mobile teams where an agent might be at their desk, on a mobile, or on a softphone.

Sequential ring

Try forwarding destinations in a defined order — desk first, then mobile, then a backup team — with each step attempting to connect before moving to the next. Sequential ring ensures coverage without overwhelming all devices at once.

Call forwarding on mobile

Take business calls on a personal or company mobile device using the MCC softphone or by forwarding to a mobile number. Business and personal calls remain separate, and the business number is preserved.

Business Benefits

What your team gains

A flexible, mobile-first workforce

Agents and team members can work from anywhere without losing business calls — desk, home office, or mobile all reach the same business number.

Zero missed calls during transitions

When staff change locations, take breaks, or handoff to colleagues, forwarding rules ensure every call reaches someone — not voicemail or a dead line.

Simple administration with no ongoing maintenance

Forwarding rules are set in the admin portal and run automatically. Admins do not need to intervene every time staffing or locations change.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between call forwarding and call routing?
Call forwarding redirects calls from one specific extension or number to another destination. Call routing governs how inbound calls are distributed across your entire phone system — queues, IVR, and teams. Both work together as part of MCC.
Can I forward calls to a mobile phone?
Yes. Calls can be forwarded to mobile numbers or answered on mobile devices via the MCC softphone app. This keeps your business number in use while staff work from any location.
Can forwarding rules change automatically at different times of day?
Yes. Time-based forwarding rules route calls to different destinations based on time of day, day of week, or custom date ranges — useful for after-hours routing and on-call schedules.
Does the caller know their call has been forwarded?
Forwarding is transparent to the caller. The experience is a normal connected call — the forwarding happens in the background without any indication to the caller.
Can I set up simultaneous ring across multiple devices?
Yes. Simultaneous ring dials all configured devices at the same time when a call arrives. The first device to answer picks up the call; the rest stop ringing.
What happens if no forwarding destination answers?
You can configure a final fallback destination for cases where no ring destination answers — typically voicemail, a team inbox, or a designated overflow number.
